Larry Bonino
Managing Principal
Larry is the Managing Principal of Mid-Atlantic Business Advisory Services (MBAS), an M&A advisory firm specializing in lower middle market businesses to provide transition (sell-side) and acquisition services, valuations, and enterprise value consulting services. MBAS has served more than 1,100 businesses and been involved with more than 1,500 consulting and M&A transactions as acquirer, seller, advisor, and interim CEO or COO in its 19 years.
Larry’s work focuses on strategic planning, valuation, business sales brokering, strategic roll-ups, and business development performance coaching.
Drawing on 38 years of experience as President, CEO and owner of multiple start-ups and turnarounds, Larry provides advisory services to maximize enterprise value. His key areas of focus include business sales, deal execution, and sales team performance improvement.
Larry also serves as board chair and business coach for The Alternative Board (TAB), where he guides clients in developing and implementing strategic plans to achieve objectives. His background includes new business creation, turnaround leadership, business development, and growth initiatives focused on driving performance improvement and increased profitability.
Throughout his career, Larry has been instrumental in increasing enterprise value and supporting deal teams in the preparation of transactions exceeding five hundred million dollars across several industries. He has founded and managed five multi-million-dollar companies and two non-profit institutions. Larry is also active in many civic, community, charitable, and professional organizations, serving on several diverse boards of businesses, community service organizations, and university advisory boards.
Larry and his wife have six children, three daughters-in-law, and a son-in-law. They welcomed their first grandchild into their family in May 2025 and are expecting their second in March 2026.
Nick Piscani
M&A Advisor/Valuation Specialist
Nick has a strong background in corporate finance, strategic planning, and business valuation — with experience in large-scale acquisitions ranging from $150 to $600 million. Nick helps business owners understand what their business is worth, identify growth opportunities, and put together a strategic plan to maximize value at the time of sale.
Nick employs a methodical approach to selling and advising businesses starting with a comprehensive valuation to uncover key value drivers and potential improvements. This allows him to position businesses more effectively in the market and help business owners make informed decisions throughout the process.
Selling your business is a major life change, and Nick’s goal is to help owners achieve the outcome that’s right for them — not just the best price, but a sale that supports their long-term goals. Whether they’re planning to retire or start something new, Nick works closely with owners to create a strategy that optimizes their outcome to achieve their personal and business goals.
Jay Calandra
M&A Advisor/Valuation Specialist
Jay has been serving Mid-Atlantic Business Advisory Services out of their eastern PA headquarters since 2023.
Jay provides clients with M&A advisory consultation, business brokerage, strategic planning, succession planning, and business performance consulting services. He specializes in working with privately-owned businesses.
He assesses strategic alternatives and implements goals and strategies for growth, profit improvement, and ownership and management succession. Jay earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Pennsylvania State University and is also licensed by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as a real estate agent.
Jay has over ten years of progressive management experience in the food and retail industries for a family-owned food processing company and a successful franchise. His areas of expertise include operations, production & manufacturing, customer service, relationship & team building, sales & marketing, retail, management, market analysis & assessment, business development, project management, and inventory control.
Lawrence Franz
M&A Advisor/Valuation Specialist
Lawrence Franz is a seasoned executive advisor and entrepreneur with over 30 years of experience in corporate operations, financial strategy, and business transformation. His background spans C-level leadership in both large enterprises and high-growth small businesses, with deep expertise in M&A, strategic planning, and operational restructuring.
He has successfully founded, scaled, and exited multiple ventures, and currently leads an asset liquidation firm with over 1,000 auctions completed. As a trusted advisor with Mid-Atlantic Business Advisory Services, he consults on business valuations, due diligence, risk management, and financial forensics for companies navigating complex transitions.
A dynamic presenter and former adjunct faculty at top institutions, Lawrence Franz blends real-world insight with academic rigor. He holds a MBA in Finance and Management (Summa Cum Laude), a B.S. in Physical Therapy (Magna Cum Laude), and professional licenses in both healthcare and auctioneering.
